wide open.

You think in verbs, not in words

like singing and dancing
and acting.
and watching and waiting
and hating.

You could say,

oh, he’s a good singer and he dances good
and maybe he’s good in acting, too
and how long do i have to wait, how long do i have to wait, and
i wish he weren’t there

But instead you notice his movement,
one object,
multiple verbs.
like every little thing he does is magic.

You think in verbs, not in words
Because words cannot fully express

things like hate and jealousy and love
words on a page, but words, still
not enough to describe him

so you think of a distraction,
more verbs. more actions.
try so hard to morph them to nouns,

because that’s what everyone talks about, right? things?
issues, politics, trends

but you’re not like anyone else, and
he’s not like anyone else
so you forego the thought of nouns
and let go of the words

for words are conjectures of movement,
needing aplenty to match the picture’s worth

and this is the moment
you lie down
and watch
and wait
